Super Kings overcome White blitz

Champions Chennai Super Kings moved into the IPL playoff spots as they beat the Deccan Chargers by 10 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk in Friday's Indian Premier League clash.
Cameron White's powerful 77 from 53 balls kept the Chargers in the chase until the penultimate over, but his run-out secured the points for Chennai as Deccan finished on 150 for five.
Du Plessis eases one into the leg side on Friday. The Super Kings failed to launch their innings into orbit after winning the toss and electing to bat, but they still managed a competitive 160 for six on a slightly sluggish pitch.

Du Plessis eases one into the leg side on Friday

The Chennai outfit benched Michael Hussey and brought Murali Vijay into their side, while Ben Hifenhaus was afforded his first game of the 2012 tournament.
Vijay started the innings promisingly, but his two boundaries were quickly followed by his dismissal as Pratap Singh had him caught at third man.
Faf du Plessis continued his excellent form as he stroked his way to 42, and the South African enjoyed the most fruitful partnership of the innings as he put on 64 from 44 balls for the second wicket with Suresh Raina.
However just as it looked as if the Super Kings might find another gear, Raina (32) was caught on the long-off boundary to disrupt their momentum.
MS Dhoni struggled to get into his groove early on, and lost Du Plessis when the opener was caught on the boundary after a 35-ball innings.
Dhoni went on to score 34 from 28 balls before he was bowled by Daniel Christian, but with the wickets falling in the death overs, Chennai were forced to settle for a solid total rather than a spectacular one.
It still proved too much for Deccan, who dropped JP Duminy and named Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Christian in their XI.
Parthiv Patel was bowled in the second over of their chase, and although White put on 68 for the second wicket with Shikhar Dhawan, the runs did not come easily.
When Dhawan was run out for 36 it left Deccan on 77 for two in the 11th over and in need of an explosive finish.
Kumar Sangakkara was caught and bowled by Suresh Raina for a single, but White's innings gained momentum to the point where he took 18 from Ravindra Jadeja in the 18th over.
That left 29 required from the final two overs, but White's run-out dented Deccan's hopes and left Christian with it all to do.
He finished 28 not out from 24 balls as Deccan took it close, but Dwayne Bravo and Hilfenhaus held firm to take the points for Chennai.

Bangladesh tour of Pakistan 2012

Bangladesh Court Orders Delay Pak Tour for a Month
Dhaka: The Bangladesh high court on Thursday ordered the national team's upcoming tour of Pakistan to be postponed for at least four weeks due to security fears.

Bangladesh were set to play a 50-over game and a Twenty20 international on April 29 and 30 in Lahore, the first international cricket matches in the troubled country for three years.

But Additional Attorney General MK Rahman said that the high court in Dhaka had ordered Bangladesh's cricket authorities to explain why the tour was scheduled to go ahead despite concerns over the team's safety.

"It asked the cricket board to explain in the next four weeks. During the four weeks, the court imposed an injunction on the cricket team's tour to Pakistan," he said.

Bangladesh would be the first team to visit Pakistan since a militant attack on the Sri Lankan team bus during the Lahore Test in 2009, when eight people died and seven visiting players and an assistant coach were injured.

The high court gave the order following a petition by a lawyer and a university teacher.

Pakistani political leaders, players and fans had welcomed the planned tour, but in Bangladesh concern over the visit has grown since it was announced on Sunday.

"We told the court that the Pakistan tour would risk the lives of our cricketers," Hassan Azim, lawyer for the two petitioners, said.

"Pakistan is not a safe place for an international sports event. No other international teams are travelling to Pakistan. Why should Bangladesh go? The decision was imposed on the cricketers."

Anti-Pakistan feelings still run strong in Bangladesh, which was part of Pakistan until 1971 when it won independence in a bloody nine-month war in which Dhaka says an estimated three million people lost their lives.

Bangladesh's coach Stuart Law, from Australia, this week expressed fears about the team's schedule.

Law declined to confirm if he would go on the tour, while Bangladesh's cricket authorities said they were seeking clearance from the International Cricket Council ( ICC).

Foreign teams shunned Pakistan after the 2009 attacks, forcing them to play their home series on neutral venues, mostly in the United Arab Emirates.
